Green-Port offers its customers a full suite of cost-effective transformer site services in Ontario. Our approach helps customers to realize maximum value for their obsolete transformers and oil through Green-Port’s ferrous and non-ferrous recycling program, its bulk oil reclamation program and its transformer rebuild program. We also offer scrap transformers, transformer oil and other assets for sale.
- Collection and transport of obsolete <50 ppm (non) PCB oil-filled transformers, capacitors and breakers from the customers’ sites
- Scrap oil-filled <50 ppm transformers are individually tested for PCB levels in the oil and tracked by serial number
- Scrap transformers are sent to Green-Port’s MOE approved transfer, recycling and treatment facility where they are processed and recycled to 96% by weight
- All used transformer oil <50 ppm is bulked and fully recycled into re-refined transformer oil or other beneficial industrial use
- Re-classification of low level PCB transformers is achieved by retro-filling with its re-refined transformer oil
- Transformers meeting the customers’ requirements for refurbishment are rebuilt and returned to the customer to be put back into service
- Using Green-Port’s proprietary process, all scrap ferrous and non-ferrous metals are cleaned and tested to meet Environment Canada September, 2008 PCB Regulations
- Certificates of Recycling, Destruction and/or Disposal are issued for scrap transformers and oil and other equipment
